Clostridium difficile - RQIA Independent Review

RQIA Review reports

A number of commissioned reviews have been conducted by RQIA.  The most recent is RQIA's Independent Review into the Outbreak of Clostridium difficile at the Northern Health and Social Care Trust.  Others include the Review into the lessons arising from the death of Mrs Janine Murtagh; a Governance review of the Northern Ireland Breast Screening Programme; and Cherry Lodge Children's Home - an independent review into the safe and effective respite care for children and young people with disabilities.  Copies of these reports can be accessed below:

Unannounced Hospital Hygiene Inspections

The RQIA has just published its first Unannounced Hospital Hygiene Inspection reports. Teams of eight people, including a consultant in communicable disease control, infection control nurses and estates officers, turned up without notice to hospitals in each health and social care trust area. Using a multidisciplinary approach to hygiene and infection control, based on the Infection Control Nurses Association audit tool, the teams inspected a range of clinical areas. Copies of these reports are available below:

Governance Reviews

The RQIA has published its reviews of clinical and social care governance arrangements in health and social care boards, trusts and agencies across Northern Ireland.  The findings from our reviews demonstrate how the concepts and practicalities of clinical and social care governance and risk management are being taken forward in health and social care organisations across Northern Ireland.
