Clinical and Social Governance Reviews

The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority has undertaken a major review of quality standards across every health board and trust in Northern Ireland to help improve the standard of our health and personal social services.

In 2006 and 2007 independent review teams visited each health and social care trust to examine in detail themes from the Quality Standards published by DHSSPS in March 2006 Quality standards for health and social care.

In addition RQIA has also carried out a series of thematic and commissioned reviews.  These include: a review of the NI breast screening programme (2006); a review of the Clostridium difficile outbreak in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust (2008); and more recently, a review of intravenous sedation in general dental practice (2009).
