Following consultation with RMO Person not detained for assessment
The examining doctor may decide not to proceed with the admission on the grounds that the person does not meet the criteria for detention in hospital. However the Code states that a decision to reject the application on examination of the patient should not be taken lightly. Such a decision should only be taken on the judgement of a Part II doctor, normally after consultation with, and, if possible the agreement of, the doctor who made the recommendation for admission. If following such consultation this decision remains Form 7 should be completed accordingly. The person should be advised of this decision and/or, if appropriate, offered in-patient care as a voluntary patient. The Code 2.60 states that the examining doctor must also inform the doctor who made the medical recommendation and the applicant, of this decision in writing.
