Current Enforcement Activity

Where RQIA identifies concerns about a particular service it may take enforcement action to ensure the safety, wellbeing and protection of those using the services. We may also take enforcement action where we identify non-compliance with regulations and/or standards.

RQIA publishes details of all enforcement action at adult health and social care services on this web page - current enforcement activity is detailed below.

Extra Care

Two failure to comply notices were issued to Extra Care on 07 June 2018, relating to missed and late calls, and staff supervision.

Glenmachan Tower House

A failure to comply notice was issued to Glenmachan Tower House on 04 May 2018, relating to the management of wound care and the use of pressure relieving equipment.

NIAS - Bangor Ambulance Station

Two improvement notices were issued on 02 October 2017. Compliance was achieved against notice 2, relating to patient safety, on 31 October 2017.  Notice 1, relating to governance issues, was extended on 8 November 2017, 19 February 2018 and 27 April 2018.    

  • Compliance is required by 31 October 2018.
NIAS - Broadway Ambulance Station (Belfast)

Two improvement notices were issued on 02 October 2017. Compliance was achieved against notice 2, relating to patient safety, on 31 October 2017.  Notice 1, relating to governance issues, was extended on 8 November 2017, 19 February 2018 and 27 April 2018.  

  • Compliance is required by 31 October 2018.
NIAS - Craigavon Ambulance Station

Two improvement notices were issued on 19 February 2018, relating to patient safety and governance issues. Compliance was achieved against notice 2, relating to patient safety, on 27 March 2018. Notice 1, relating to governance issues was extended on 27 April 2018.

  • Compliance is required by 31 October 2018.
NIAS Trust

On 12 March 2018, DoH accepted RQIA’s recommendation to implement a special measure to strengthen governance and assurance arrangements within the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service Trust (NIAS).

RQIA has recommended the secondment into NIAS of a senior practitioner with experience in infection prevention/control and governance and assurance. This secondment should be for a period of three months in the first instance.

SCA Montague Centre Broadway

Two failure to comply notices were issued to SCA Montague Centre Broadway on 05 June 2018, relating to visits by the registered provider and the general environment within the centre.

Seaview House

A failure to comply notice was issued to Seaview House on 25 April 2018, relating to effective monitoring and governance arrangements.

  • Compliance is required by 25 June 2018.
